In 2006, the ship underwent a full professional refit at Shipyard De Uitkomst in Zaandam. During this extensive renovation, both the interior and exterior were completely sandblasted and repainted, after which the ship was transformed into a stylish party vessel for approximately 150 guests. A professional catering kitchen was installed, and the interior was redesigned to accommodate comfortable and atmospheric passenger service.

The Zuiderzee is currently still in use as a passenger vessel, but thanks to its spacious layout and strong build, it is also highly suitable for conversion into a houseboat.
